
Biography
April Edwards began her audio career as a self produced singer/songwriter and was classically trained in piano, violin, opera, guitar and music theory.
She got her start in audio engineering in 2016 as an extern at Nitrosonic Studios in Lexington, KY while enrolled as an audio production student at the Recording Connection. A year later, April began running operations as the studio manager and lead engineer and helped manage Nitrosonic’s record label.
In 2018, April and two of her associates bought Nitrosonic studio where she also served as recording engineer and lead mix engineer. In 2021, April broke off from the company to pursue her own career as a freelance audio engineer, instructor and consultant. She teaches recording and mixing classes for students both virtually and in person and has served as a consultant for a handful of studios.
Her lists of accomplishments include being a 2x Pro Panel member and 3x nominee for “Best Audio Engineer” in the Lexington Music Awards and has served as a mentor for the Recording Connection for the past several years.
Notable clients she’s worked with include: The Mike Dillon Band, Magnolia Boulevard, Mama Said String Band, Blair Crimmins and The Hookers, D Boone Pittman and The Fugitives, and Adult Swim (recording voiceovers for the show “12 oz. Mouse”). She was mix engineer for Kentucky’s highly acclaimed and Josie Award winning "Overtones LIVE" radio show and podcast series and she currently works as a freelance mix engineer.
In 2023, April became partner of and audio engineer for Dreamland Entertainment, a multifaceted entertainment company and record label with a team that carries 100+ years of combined music industry experience.
